Ideas for Dice

There are a variety of ways in which pupils can access a dice to find out the number of squares that they move forward while playing games.

Software

One way is through using Clicker. There is a set of grids available free to download from the Crick Software Website. This gives a dice that is also switch and touch screen accessible.

Another common method is via Speaking Dynamically Pro, which is available from Don Johnston and Cambridge Adaptive Communication amongst others. This has a random dice generator feature included as standard.

All-Turn It Spinner

This is a commercially available spinner which is switch operated. Additional games can also be bought for the spinner. It is available from a variety of distributers including:

Low tech or paper ideas are to print out a grid of the six numbers, laminate it and turn them face down so that the pupils just pick one. The pile is then shuffled so that ‘dice’ stays random.

Alternatively, print out a set of the number snap cards, so that pupils can just turn over a card to ‘roll’ the dice.
