CALL Webinars for 2016

Posted by Allan Wilson on the 16th December, 2015

CALL Scotland today launches our most comprehensive ever programme of webinars, with 17 scheduled for the first half of 2016. We have webinars planned for various iPad apps, communication, digital exams, speech recognition and other areas. Three presentations by guest presenters will provide opportunities to find out about the latest developments in some popular software products.

The programme kicks off on January 17th with Craig talking about 10 Top iPad Tips to Support Literacy. Other iPad-related webinars will focus on making maths accessible, communication, language and literacy, and creativity.

Paul will be presenting two webinars on digital exams, the first covering the basics of what they are, who can use them and the practicalities of setting them up on the day of the exam. The second will look at digital exams on iPads and the use of speech recognition in exams. We have two more webinars looking at speech recogniton, with Shirley providing a general introduction to the topic and then moving on to look at the outcomes of our Talking in Exams project which has seen a number of schools in Scotland starting to use speech recognition.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is not neglected, with Joanna talking about the Eye Gaze Software Curve and Gillian leading a webinar on the AAC in Education Online Course which is due to be launched in 2016.

In our guest presentations, Andrew Campbell from TextHelp will talk about Using Read&Write to Support Literacy, Bryan Adamson from Crick Software will demonstrate the new Clicker 7 program and Clicker apps, while Amy Follows will give a presentation on Widgit Apps for Supporting Language and Literacy.

CALL Webinars are free and are generally held at 4pm (UK time) on Wednesday afternoons. They last 20 - 30 minutes. The full list of our webinars is available on the Webinar page of the CALL Scotland web site. If you can't catch a particular webinar, you can view archived webinars from the Webinar page. There are currently 70 archived webinars available.
