Sign up for the new Books for All Database

Posted by Paul Nisbet on the 28th November, 2019

After 9 years and over 230,000 downloads, the Books for All Database will close on 19 February 2020.

The new replacement Books for All web site is up and running and so we encourage you to create an account now, and to get into the habit of using the new facility so that you won't be surprised when this database stops working next year.

Head over to Books for All and create your own personal account.

The new Books for All web site has been created by Robert Stewart here in CALL and is designed to have a more modern interface and hopefully to make it easier to find titles.

To access books, you will need to create a personal account - you can't use your Glow or Scran account to log in.

We would like to thank the team at Scran for all the help and support you have provided since the database was first created in 2010. Thousands of children and young people with print disabilities in Scotland have been able to access learning materials in accessible formats, and thereby be more included in learning. The Books for All Scotland Database was a pioneering development and I believe it influenced the establishment of what we now know as RNIB Bookshare, which is a massive facility currently offering over 360,000 titles. We're going to keep our much smaller resource going though because we believe it still offers a valuable service for Scottish schools.
