Supporting learners with ASN at home

Posted by Shirley Lawson on the 9th April, 2021

I have been working with a group of teachers who are using OneNote Class Notebooks to share resources with pupils who have been at home during lockdown.  Although many pupils have returned to school there are still those who are not able to due to health (both physical and mental) reasons.  The use of cloud based Classroom solutions has greatly accelerated  in lockdown and now that it has been established, it is going to remain a vitally important element of  providing a fully inclusive learning environment.

In this short video you will see how a teacher can easily distribute resources into all the pupils’ OneNote Notebooks with a click of a button.  When the pupil accesses the resource they have a range of assistive tools built into OneNote that they can use to support their literacy difficulties and/or their preferred way of working.

Where can I find OneNote and Class Notebook training resources?

There are a few short interactive courses on the Microsoft Education Center:

Where can I find out how to use assistive technology within OneNote and Class Notebook to support my learners with ASN?

Contact shirley.lawson@ed.ac.uk to discuss your training requirements and book your school in for a 90 minute online bespoke training session which will give you the skills and knowledge to support all your learners to work more independently, to increase their confidence and to raise attainment.
