New Symbols for All resources for Eye Gaze

Posted by Claire Harrison on the 15th July, 2019

We have created a new set of Symbols for All resources  for learners who use Grid 3 software.

If you are working with learners who use Grid 3 software, we have created 12 communication grid sets designed for eye gaze access. These 12 communication grid sets are based on some of our Symbols for All printable resources. The Grid 3 resources can be used interactively, speaking messages aloud. They can be used to model sentence building, model 'core' communication words,  communicate requests and create communication opportunities around a variety of curricular activities from baking to reading and more.

It's simple to add these Symbols for All grid sets to a copy of Grid 3 software by doing the following:

As you can see from below  some of the grid sets will support choice making and participation. In 'Old MacDonald' learners can decide the order the animals are sung about and practise joining to messages together to say 'And on the farm he had a.....sheep', etc. There are also a number of 'Core Word' grid sets like the 'Mobilo Core Word Chat' below. These communication grids can be used to practise using Core Words (shaded in green) along with vocabulary specific to an activity. So learners can experience using vocabulary like: 'Not more rectangle', 'I show you', 'Connect wheel', etc. The Symbols for All Grid 3 Core Word activities have the core vocabulary in the same place on each grid, help learners familarise themselves with the layout.

We hope Grid 3 users find these a useful addition and have fun communicating and learning with symbols. Watch this space for exciting news about the Bookbug Picture Books for Eye Gaze users....coming soon!
