Autism Spectrum Conditions

Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) or Autistic is the preferred terminology rather than Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), thus taking away the stigma and negative connotations that can be associated with the word 'disorder'.

Autism is a spectrum of neurodevelopmental conditions often characterised by:

• difficulties in the development of social relationships and communication skills,
• particular interests,
• difficulties with understanding the relevance of some tasks,
• repetitive behaviour and difficulties coping with unexpected change.
