For over 40 years CALL Scotland has worked with local authorities, schools and staff to help children and young people with additional support needs access learning and communication. We're a small multi-disciplinary team with a belief in the transformational power of Assistive Technologies and Augmentative and Alternative Communication.

Promotional graphic for CALL Scotland recruiting a Director. The centre of the image shows the text “CALL Scotland” (with “CALL” in blue and “Scotland” in red), followed by: “We’re looking for a new Director. Lead national work supporting inclusive education through assistive technology. Help shape the future of accessible learning in Scotland. Apply now.” Around the text are layered images illustrating assistive technology in education: at the top, a learner using a stylus on a tablet; in the middle, various keyboards, switches and input devices; and at the bottom, a child using an AAC tablet with symbol-based communication, alongside books and learning materials. The overall design emphasises inclusive, technology-supported learning.

We are seeking a new Director to guide us into a new phase of strengthening partnerships, influencing policy and enabling innovation in inclusion and accessibility through assistive and communication technologies. Because we are based within Moray House School of Education and Sport at the University of Edinburgh, CALL is able to work at the intersection of research, policy and classroom practice. This is a rare opportunity to lead a nationally respected service and play a key role in shaping how technology supports learning across Scottish education and beyond.

You can read the full job description and submit an application at the University of Edinburgh recruitment portal.
