Bookbug Picture Book Prize 2022 Grid 3 Writing Resources

Posted by Claire Harrison on the 7th September, 2021

We’ve created a set of Grid 3 writing activities based on the 2022 books. These writing activities can be downloaded by anyone who has a copy of Grid 3 software.

All this week we’re looking at the different resources which are available for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize Books. So far, we’ve explored the free symbol resources, available for anyone to download and use to support communication and shared reading. We've also looked at the Accessible Digital Books, which are available for learners in Scotland who have a print disability. Today, we are turning our focus to some of the resources which we hope will be both a time-saver and a way to extend learning opportunities using the Bookbug books as a topic for writing.

Who are the Grid 3 writing resources for?

The Grid 3 writing resources are particularly useful for learners who are using Eye Gaze technology as their method of accessing computers. Each page has a rest cell which can be toggled on and off to allow learners to explore a page at their leisure.

However, the Writing Grid sets can also be used by anyone using switches, touchscreens, rollerballs, joysticks…. they’re accessible for everyone! If your learner uses an iPad and has a copy of the Grid for iPad app, they’ll be able to use the writing resources too.

What are the Grid 3 writing resources?

Each book has its own Grid Set with three activities.

How do I get the Grid 3 resources?

You can download the Grid Sets from https://www.symbolsforall.org.uk/bookbug/primary1-pack/. Scroll down and look for the ‘Grid 3’ icon underneath each book.

If you don’t have access to a copy of Grid 3 software, you can access a 60-day trial from here: https://thinksmartbox.com/download-grid-3/
