CALL Scotland Loan bank Suspended

Posted by Gillian McNeill on the 31st March, 2020

Due to the current situation with COVID-19 resulting in school and other building closures, CALL Scotland have temporarily suspended our equipment loan bank. We will therefore be unable to issue new loans of assistive technology equipment and we will not be recalling equipment currently out on loan.

For current loans that are due for return, we will extended your loan until schools re-open, after which we will contact you to arrange return. We would ask that in the meantime you keep loan equipment stored in a secure, safe place and that you save the most recent copy of any learner files. This might include AAC vocabularies, and other files such as any subject/topic notes and written work, as well as any other digital downloads such as books. These are best copied to an online drive such as OneDrive or another PC, device or USB memory stick. If done, there will be no need to keep batteries in learner devices charged. We can provide you with advice on doing this, by contacting us on our usual CALL email: info@callscotland.org.uk.

If you have no alternative other than returning loan equipment to us, please contact us (info@callscotland.org.uk) first to discuss this, as there are building closures in place for us too. As with any equipment returns at any time of the year, we would ask you surface clean before returning. The following information from the assistive technology supplier Smartbox is a useful guide for this…

Cleaning and quarantine of devices.
