Students with additional support needs can get popular assistive software for use at home during the Covid-19 situation. Read more to find out about some really great software and apps that are available to you.
Clicker and DocsPlus are well known writing tools with versions for iPad, Chromebook, Windows and Mac. Crick are offering free home access to Clicker (primary) and DocsPlus (secondary) for both pupils and teachers. If you have been using Clicker or DocsPlus in school (or even if you haven't), schools can sign up to get home access for teachers and pupils while schools are closed.
Of interest to: all teachers, learners and parents/carers, particularly for learners who need support with reading or writing.
ClaroRead is a literacy support package that provides text reader, screen colour adjustment, spellchecking, word prediction and other tools to support reading, writing and studying. The company are offering free licences for ClaroRead for Windows, Mac or Chromebook (alongside many of their apps that are always free).
Of interest to: later primary and secondary learners, students at FE/HE and adults who need reading or writing support for accessing the internet, digital documents and for using with productivity apps such as Microsoft Office.
Widgit Online can be used to create, print, share and translate symbol materials. You'll probably know about Widgit Symbols through our free Symbols for All resources. To make sure symbol users have access to the systems and resources they need, Widgit are offering free and unrestricted access to Widgit Online and its ready-made materials for 30 days.
