We are excited about our new line up of webinars for January – June 2022 and proud to be able to continue to offer them at no cost to everyone. These 20 - 30 minute webinars span a range of assistive technology topics and are ideal Professional Learning for anyone working with children and young people with Additional Support Needs.

We are especially delighted to have on board SpecialEffect  who will present their webinar on 30th March. They are a charity based in Oxfordshire who do a wonderful job ‘putting fun and inclusion back into the lives of physically disabled people across the world.’  We are often focussed on using assistive technology which supports pupils access the curriculum so it is good to be reminded of the bigger picture and the wider lives of our young people.

SpecialEffect provide video game access to individuals with physical disabilities.  Each setup is completely tailored to the individual based on their functional movements and the games they would like to play, so every setup is unique. Each assessment is carried out by the service delivery team, which comprises of occupational therapists and specialist technicians who specialise in video game accessibility.

This webinar will outline how SpecialEffect helps provide access to gaming through means of specialised equipment, including controllers, joysticks and switches. They will also share case studies on people they have helped to showcase their setup and explain the equipment that is being used and discuss some of the accessibility options within some of the games being played.
