Opportunity to Recognise Excellence at AAC Awards 2023

Communication Matters, the UK wide organisation for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) have recently announced that nominations are open for the national AAC Awards 2023. Held every two years, the purpose is to celebrate and recognise contribution to the world of AAC by either an AAC user, a family member or carer, or a professional or team of professionals, who have displayed excellence, good practice and/or outstanding commitment.

CALL Scotland are aware of many instances of good practice taking place in schools and communities in Scotland and wider UK community, we see it through our work supporting children and young people with communication difficulties to use AAC. The awards therefore, presents an excellent opportunity to share and showcase them.

Nominations close on 23rd January, so don’t miss out!

Could you be recognised for brilliant skills in art, drama, poetry, dance? Do you know a teacher, therapist or parent who deserves recognition for their commitment to AAC? Do you attend a group, school or club that supports AAC users in a unique way? Do you know someone who has demonstrated excellence in the AAC community? It could be an AAC user, a family member or carer, or a professional or team of professionals who have supported you or helped to achieve the unachievable!

Come and join us for an evening of celebration and recognition at our AAC Awards evening. Hosted by Communication Matters at the University of Leeds on Friday 24th March 2023.

The CALL Scotland team are no strangers to the awards having been winners at the inaugural ceremony in 2019 and being highly commended at the virtual ceremony in 2021.

This year there are 10 awards categories reflecting the diversity of the AAC community, details on the categories and making a nomination can be found at the Awards website, as can information on attending the event to include dinner and entertainment.
