We have a brand-new 'Technology to Support Communication' online course starting this Autumn.

On the 29th October 2024, we are launching our new 5-week online course with live weekly workshops. Do you support children or young people with communication support needs within a specialist provision, mainstream or special school? Would you like to explore ways to support the development of emergent communication skills for pupils with complex access and learning challenges? Join us to explore strategies and tools to support communication.

Technology to Support Communication (5-week self-study course)

What to expect

• Weekly interactive workshops: engage with live workshops and ask questions.
• Develop your professional learning: through exploration of the latest research and opportunities for further reading & information.
• Explore communication tools: apps, devices, alternative access methods and assessment resources.
• Implementation inspiration: Access to a bank of ideas and ready-made resources.
• On completion of the course, you will receive a CALL Scotland (University of Edinburgh) certificate and digital badge as evidence of your learning.

Course outline

Each week in the online workshop, we will delve into a different aspect of communication support along with related tools and strategies. The course is designed to be practical with ideas and resources that you can try out with the young people you support. By the end of the course, our aim is that you feel more confident in applying communication technology skills within your setting.
