Are you looking to build your confidence in using technology to support children and young people with dyslexia?
CALL Scotland's popular Technology to Support Dyslexia in Education course returns on 25 August 2026, offering a practical and accessible introduction to the technology that can make a real difference to learners with dyslexia. Whether you are new to supporting learners with dyslexia or simply looking for a refresher, this five-week online course provides the knowledge, skills and confidence to help learners access the curriculum more independently.
This course is designed for:
No specialist knowledge is required, making it an ideal starting point for beginners.
The course focuses on the technology that many learners already have access to through everyday devices and software. Participants will explore practical ways to support reading, writing, organisation and independent learning using built-in accessibility features.
Topics include:
Alongside built-in technology, participants will also be introduced to a range of specialist assistive technology software and resources that may provide additional support where required.
Throughout the five weeks, participants will have opportunities to explore technologies for themselves, reflect on how they can be used with learners, and develop practical approaches that can be implemented immediately.
Our aim is not simply to demonstrate technology, but to show how it can help learners become more independent, confident and successful in their education
For many learners with dyslexia, technology can reduce barriers to reading, writing and accessing information. The effective use of assistive technology can help learners focus on demonstrating their knowledge and skills, rather than struggling with the mechanics of literacy.
Understanding what tools are available - and when to use them - has become an essential part of inclusive practice in schools and at home.
If you would like to develop your understanding of technology to support dyslexia, we would be delighted to welcome you to the course.
