Once you've found the technology you would like to borrow, read the questions and answers in the next section, as this will help you:

Step 2: Note the CALL Number(s)

write down the 'CALL number' of the item(s). This infomration will be shown on the 'equipment details' page, and allows us to find what you need.

Step 3: Contact us

You'll need to contact us to request a loan.

Let us know who you are and what the loan is for.

Questions and answers

What if an item is currently out on loan?

Not to worry, most loans are only out for a period of 2 months, so contact us to discuss when you'd get the equipment.

Restricted loans

Some items of technology are restricted to Speech and Language Therapists who have the appropriate AAC knowledge and skills to support use of the equipment. Please contact us to discuss further.

How long is a loan for?

Loans are usually for a 2 month period, but in certain circumstances it may be possible to have an extension.

Who can borrow equipment?

Loans are for individuals with disabilities throughout Scotland and can be requested by:

  • School staff or the local support team around pupils.
  • Health care staff.
  • Workers in social care and community services.

In some circumstances, individuals or parents can borrow equipment directly.
