Identifying assistive technology for late primary learners with dyslexia - the assessment process

12

23rd February, 2023 (4:00pm - 5:00pm)

£30 per individual.

60 minute Online Learning workshop.

There are many assistive technology tools that can help a student with dyslexia and it can be a challenge to work out which, if any, are likely to be helpful.

This online course will explore how teachers, parents and learners can identify which technology can meet a learner’s individual needs. We focus on learners in the later years of primary school because this is often when literacy difficulties become a significant barrier to learning, and when we plan for transition to secondary education.

What you will learn

  • Identifying additional support needs, with reference to the Addressing Dyslexia Toolkit.
  • Matching assistive technology to specific additional support needs.
  • Incorporating assistive technology into IEPs / Learning Plans / Child's Plans.
  • Incorporating assistive technology into Transition planning.

Who is the course aimed at?

  • Teachers (upper primary, high school)
  • Support for Learning teachers
  • Pupil Support Assistants
  • Dyslexic learners / Students
  • Family members
