Assistive Technologies to help autistic learners to access the curriculum

25

30th November, 2023 (4:00pm - 5:00pm)

£30 per individual.

60 minute Online Learning workshop.

Do you have access to devices in school but not quite sure how to get the most out of them for your autistic learners?

There are many assistive technologies that can be used to help autistic learners expand their communication, increase social interaction and to boost confidence and independence. In this online workshop, Shirley Lawson and Kirsteen Steven, both Assistive Technology and ASN Teachers on the CALL Scotland Team will bring together their expertise to demo and discuss how beneficial the introduction of assistive technologies can be for autistic learners.

Shirley and Kirsteen will demo assistive features and apps on the iPad that will help autistic learners engage with learning. They will discuss strategies that can be employed to ensure the device is used in a focussed, purposeful way which still gives the learner the opportunity to choose and direct their own learning. Kirsteen will present a real life case study example of Before and After using technology and will discuss how to evaluate outcomes.

This course was held on the 30th November, 2023 but you can still purchase a recording of the session.
You'll also receive all the resources that were sent out with the course.
