Complex Learning Needs: Using technology to support Early Numeracy

90 minute Online Learning workshop.

This practical course will demonstrate Software, apps and assistive technology tools to support numeracy and mathematics for children and young people with complex learning needs. We will explore creative ways of adapting and innovating to make learning materials more accessible, including ideas for using iPad apps, Software and 'No tech' valuable materials, and switch and eye gaze accessible resources. We will also highlight valuable resources, information and websites.

What you will learn

  • To understand the rationale for using AAC to support communication, participation and learning.
  • To learn about printed communication resources and simple starter communication aids for an AAC toolkit.
  • To understand best practice for introducing and supporting AAC toolkit resources in the classroom.
  • To explore CALL Scotland's and other top resources for AAC.

  • Learn which software, apps and practical materials can be used to create early level mathematical learning experiences.
  • Consider how to make early level mathematical resources accessible for switch, touch and eye gaze users.
  • Know where to find information, resources and further Professional Learning Opportunities.
