Course held on the 1st December, 2022 • £40 per individual
90 minute Online Learning workshop
In this course, Shirley will share her expertise and experience of supporting upper primary dyslexic pupils making the transition into high school and encouraging the use of assistive technology to make the jump to 'the big school' less daunting. This is a crucial stage for these pupils - and their families - and there is often a lot of anxiety around the transition and questions about what support will be in place. We will fully explore what assistive technologies exist to support learners with dyslexia. This will be on Windows laptops, iPads and chromebooks as well as other devices that might be used at home such as Android tablets and phones. There will be discussion and demos of built in features of the devices to support reading, writing, spelling and organisation as well as an overview of specific literacy support software, apps and extensions. There will be information provided on how to deliver a digital curriculum should and how to create accessible resources. We will look at the advantages of using cloud based classrooms such as OneNote Digital Class Notebooks for organisation, easy dissemination of resources and to allow dyslexic pupils to use the built in assistive features of the application to read information, revise effectively and for greater productivity.
