Dyslexia Scotland and CALL Scotland are working together to provide two free webinars on the use of technology to support children and adults with dyslexia. They are aimed at people with dyslexia, parents and teachers based in Scotland. The first will focus on the use of software for Windows computers, while the second will feature iPads, Android tablets and other devices.

You can view the webinar on a computer or tablet at home, or at work. You will be able to ask the presenters questions during the live broadcast. If you are unable to watch it at the scheduled time, you will be able to view an archived version at a time to suit after the original broadcast. 

This webinar will focus primarily on the use of an iPad / iPhone to support someone with dyslexia. The main focus will be on iPads, but there will also be consideration of Android (e.g Samsung, Acer, Huawei, Google) tablets and phones, Chromebooks and Reader Pens

  • Using the built-in accessibility features of iPads and Android tablets to support a person with dyslexia, including Speak Selection / Screen, Reading Mode, Display Accommodations, Siri
  • Getting a Scottish Voice for an Android device
  • Accessing digital books using Books and Kindle apps
  • Apps to help with memory and organisation
  • Using different keyboard apps
  • Capturing printed text with Claro ScanPen and Reading Pens
  • Chromebooks
  • Finding further information on iPads and other tablets on the CALL Scotland web site, including the CALL Dyslexia app wheels and other posters.
