In this webinar, Rachel will discuss the way that deaf children were often excluded from education during the first period of lockdown and gradually let back in through the second. By January 2021 facilities for deaf children had much improved: online learning was more accessible and children were being listened to more. Yet children were still fairly powerless: the choice of platform was not up to them and the differences between levels of support offered by authorities and schools remained large.
She will discuss both practical and social justice issues in this presentation such as:
Rachel will conclude by looking at deaf children's rights to appropriate levels of support in the current Scottish education system.
