Building Language, Self-Regulation and a Love of Reading with Wordless Books

Charlotte Raby is the creator of Story Talk, she is a researcher and early reading expert who has worked for the past thirty years with schools, publishers and the DfE's English Hubs programme most recently creating the 'Reading Ambition for All' training.

The most powerful tool we have to stop inequality is to give children access to language and to teach reading.

• In this webinar we will explore how to develop language, relationships and a love of reading using six evidence-based interaction strategies and wordless books.
• We will look at how to use wordless books with non-speaking pupils to develop connection and language as well as volitional reading experiences.
• We will discuss how to enact 'the least dangerous assumption' and give all pupils regardless of their starting points access to a rich text and book based curriculum and why this is so important for all learners.
