ASL & Technology Conference 2026: Our Biggest and Most Successful Event Yet

Category Assistive Technology

On 10 June 2026, CALL Scotland welcomed educators, support staff, local authority colleagues, therapists and technology specialists from across Scotland and beyond to our annual ASL & Technology Conference. The event brought together professionals with a shared commitment to improving outcomes for learners with additional support needs through the effective use of technology.

This year's hybrid conference was our largest and most ambitious to date, with a packed programme of keynote presentations, practical workshops and an expanded exhibition area that gave delegates more opportunities than ever to explore the latest developments in assistive technology.

A Fantastic Atmosphere

The photographs from the day capture the enthusiasm and energy of the conference. The opening Keynote from Dr Sarah Moseley brought together a large audience in a packed lecture hall, while workshop rooms remained busy throughout the programme as delegates explored practical approaches to supporting learners through technology.

The strong attendance, lively discussions and willingness to share knowledge created a collaborative atmosphere that is at the heart of what makes the ASL & Technology Conference such a valuable professional learning event.

Making More Time for Hands-On Learning

One of the most significant changes this year was a revised timetable designed to give delegates additional time to visit exhibitors, ask questions and try technology for themselves. Feedback from previous events highlighted the value of these conversations, so we made sure we built in more dedicated exhibition time into the programme.

The change proved extremely successful. Delegates were able to spend meaningful time exploring a wide range of hardware, software and digital resources, discussing learner needs with suppliers and gaining practical insights that they could take back to their own settings.

Our Largest Ever Exhibition

Demand from exhibitors was higher than ever, and for the first time we expanded into three exhibition rooms. This allowed us to showcase an incredible range of assistive technologies and inclusive learning solutions, from communication and literacy support tools to accessibility software, specialist hardware and emerging technologies.

The exhibition spaces were busy throughout the day, with delegates taking every opportunity to engage directly with suppliers, compare solutions and experience products first-hand.

Inspiring Presentations and Practical Workshops

Alongside the exhibition, delegates both in person and online were able to select workshops focused on supporting learners through technology. Sessions emphasised practical classroom applications, real-world examples and strategies that practitioners could immediately implement in their own schools and services. We know that some sessions, particularly in the morning, were over subscribed in person, and this is something we will look at when planning next year.

The high level of engagement across all sessions demonstrated the continued importance of sharing practice and learning from colleagues across the sector.

Positive Feedback

The feedback received following the conference has been overwhelmingly positive, with many delegates commenting on both the quality of the sessions and the organisation of the event.

Some of the comments included:

I don't think it could be improved unless I could attend in person!

Very well organised on the day, clear markings and timings. Programme was very clear and handy to access from the email throughout the day.

Workshops related very well to classroom learning.

I was really impressed. What a useful and inspiring day!

These comments reflect the commitment of our presenters, exhibitors and organising team, whose hard work helped to create such a successful event.

Thank You

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the 2026 ASL & Technology Conference such a success: our delegates, presenters, exhibitors, sponsors (Ayoa and Everway) and the wider CALL Scotland team. It was inspiring to see so many professionals coming together to explore how technology can remove barriers to learning and help every learner achieve their potential.

We are already looking forward to building on this year's success and welcoming everyone back for the CALL Scotland ASL & Technology Conference 2027.
