Category Dyslexia Speech Recognition

We hope that all our Professional Learning for 2023 sets you up well for supporting your learners with Additional Support Needs to achieve their full potential with the help of assistive technologies.

Our first course of the term on Thursday, 19th January will be perfect for you if you want to explore and learn more about this topic.  Shirley will lead this Introductory Level online learning workshop on using Google Voice typing for learners with writing difficulties.

As the workshop is an hour long then we are not going to explore each different speech recognition option but instead take the one that we find the most responsive, most user friendly and available on Windows laptops and Chromebooks and look at it in detail.  Not just how it works but thinking of the logistics of using speech recognition in a busy class environment where young people maybe self-conscious about speaking out loud.  Shirley will explain the key skills in using speech recognition that you need to explicitly teach to ensure the best result possible from your learners.

Have a look at our website for more information on Speech Recognition.  Here you will find out what is available on whatever device you have and how it works.
