Technology to Support Qualifications Scotland Digital Assessment Arrangements

This five-week course is for educators and other professionals working within the Scottish Education who wish to make the assessments used in their setting more accessible for all learners.

This is a five week course with weekly 1-hour online workshops, delivered by the CALL Scotland team with input from other practitioners.

About the course

This five-week course is for educators and other professionals working within the Scottish Education who wish to make the assessments used in their setting more accessible for all learners.

Participants will explore the options available for formative and summative assessments across all age ranges and to understand the options available for Qualifications Scotland digital assessment arrangements. You will get a chance to hear about and experience a number of different assessment tools and options linked to an understanding of the theory behind producing more accessible assessment. You will discover options that will influence the equity and validity of the assessments you are using.

The online workshops are on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm and are delivered by the CALL Scotland team with input from other practitioners.

Course structure and weekly workshops

  • Week 1 (1 October 2026): What makes assessment accessible? Look at the difference between accessibility, differentiation and accommodations and explore the validity of assessments.
  • Week 2 (8 October 2026): Accessible formative assessment. Consider how using digital tools can remove barriers and options about accessibility features.
  • Week 3 (15 October 2026): Accessible summative assessment. How do we ensure reliability and consistency when using technology. Discover options for producing accessible assessment papers.
  • Week 4 (29 October 2026): Building accessible assessment materials.
  • Week 5 (5 November 2026): Implementing digital assessment arrangements. Build an understanding of the requirements for Qualifications Scotland digital assessment arrangements. Consider common assessment arrangements and how to prepare learners for using assistive technology in their exams.

How to connect

Our live sessions are delivered using Microsoft Teams and we provide full joining instructions. There are a maximum of 50 participants so everyone can have an interactive collegiate learning experience.
