After 19 years in the classroom, I am delighted to have joined the CALL Scotland team as Assistive Technology and Additional Support Needs Teacher. I have always had a particular interest in the use of technology to support learners. I was the teacher who volunteered, at the time, to have the first interactive panel installed in their classroom!
Having taught in both mainstream and specialist provision I recognise the need to have high expectations for all learners and for them to have access to technology which will enable them to be successful learners.
In my role of leading the Professional Learning Programme at CALL Scotland I will focus on ensuring that we continue to provide relevant and quality training on assistive technologies to colleagues working with children and young people with additional support needs and/or disabilities.
How are our symbolised resources used in class? Are they what teachers and learners need to support early literacy? This case study was recently conducted visiting and supporting within a Primary 1 mainstream class and a P1-3 specialist provision within the same school.
Did you know that CALL Scotland have also created Clicker writing sets to go along with the Scottish Booktrust bag of books that they gift to every Primary One child in Scotland? Let's have a look at them and think about how they could support your learners with ASN.
